In the current environment, who would want to be a cop? Our policemen appear to be the ones being hunted. They lay their lives on the line yet they’re under attack. They’re blamed for black abuse, violence, even murder while attempting to do their jobs. And despite the charges that have been levied against six Baltimore police officers, it will be hard to determine or prove how Freddie Gray ended up with such grievous injuries in the back of that van. Did the police really damage his spinal cord or was Gray attempting as a witness has declared, to injure himself. Did he have a preexisting injury from before? I suspect there is more to know about Freddie Gray that is yet unrevealed. We will wait for more details and hope all the facts emerge. For now, the Baltimore authorities have filed serious charges against these six cops, three of whom are black including one female.
Upon examination, Baltimore is a city with no future. It has the fifth highest murder rate in the country. The population is diminished from 900,00 in the 1970s to 600,000 now. Criminal activity is uncontrolled. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued a stand down order to the police while her city was being destroyed by frustrated blacks who rally to any perceived racist insult due to lack of good private sector jobs. Who would want to create jobs in such a place? Those who work hard, the real victims here, deserve protection for their property and livelihood. Yet none was offered. Destruction was allowed, in fact enabled.
Rawlings-Black referred to these out of control looters as thugs. She was right to say it. But she backed that down describing them as “misguided young people” who deserve our support. Was she chastised by the black powers-that-be for describing them correctly – politically correct black spin she must abide.
One could speculate that being on the police force in such cities is brutal. And younger men with a proud generational history of producing dedicated policemen may have second thoughts about continuing that legacy in corrupt politically driven cities that don’t try to clean up the places they control. Status quo is maintained and political power. You have to wonder why the people keep these failed leaders in power. Maybe they should try another party?
When you have accusations of incendiary racism lodged against police from the likes of Al Sharpton, Bill de Blasio, Eric Holder green lighted by Barack Obama, we have a problem.
Our president’s skin color hasn’t exactly ended racial strife in America. Didn’t we have a right to expect it would? They are race hustlers all, who do not look at the real issues that cause unrest. Self reliance isn’t a value we respect much anymore. Government induced dependency is. Blame is their ticket focused on the sting of being black. Hard to reconcile so much black misery when we have our first black president going into his 7th year. That should make a difference, yet race relations have worsened because of an impenetrable barrier predicated on victimization. The police are charged with white supremacism and accusations of race baiting though Baltimore is a black run city. That’s hard to square with the facts.
Why aren’t more African Americans doing better? Why hasn’t Obama helped improve their lives? We live in a gimme culture where being on the dole is encouraged. Black women have too many babies out of wedlock. Seventy-two percent of black children are fatherless. Inner city schools are controlled by unions that are known to produce failing public schools. Those two factors alone are predictors of diminished performance and economic disadvantage. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that young black men are disproportionately involved in the criminal justice system. We hear little from Black leaders about taking responsibility for the lives we’re given. A black president should declare that as the role model he is. How’s that working out? I’ll let you be the judge.
When Ferguson ended we breathed a sigh of relief. It permeated our lives 24/7 and sickened our souls. The evidence exonerated Darren Wilson though many black people refused to accept it along with clueless pandering celebrities who balked at the verdict. Now we’ve got Baltimore eight months later. We’re going after cops again for targeting criminals. We’ve got six lives on the line and more drama to endure though I suspect many believe they did nothing wrong. They were doing their jobs. That’s what cops do; help keep us safe. This dreadful Obama message criminalizes cops and sanctions criminals. It’s a twisted approach in which black and white cops police a criminally infested badly run city sanctioned by black leaders. Cops are victims too trying hard to keep the city safe for its citizens. That’s hardly racism.
