Trump’s presidency is fraught with obstacles and interruptions that no sitting president should be forced to endure. A plethora of barbs and dirty antics that keep coming as if Trump is an identified enemy rather than the duly appointed president of the United States. He was pummeled even before the election with a carefully crafted Russian construct to demean his chances for a win. He won the election anyway. He is now trying to execute on the promised policies his constituents expect with interference coming from his own party. Admittedly, it takes a tough man to navigate that and the smears produced by well known media outlets like CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, PBS, NPR who fabricate news to conform with their leftist political beliefs. There are some who did not support Trump but are nonetheless recognizing that maybe all that media spin was an effort to devalue his standing, that the belief in American exceptionalism has merit.
Being even-handed in an unfair political environment should be an expectation Americans can count on.
But we’re far from that reality. Congress-blue fights anything congress-red suggests with no consideration for their country, people or issues. Their centerpiece is the hostility they crave no matter what their intractable behavior produces. It’s gone way beyond governing. It’s palpable hate Democrats seek with little resistance among them. They stick together melded collectively in one radicalized mindset that isn’t American. They’re resolute in their pernicious hate for Trump and their stink permeates everything political. Their goal is to unseat Trump any way they can with their self-proclaimed leader Barack Obama whose autocratic shadow government is by all accounts up and running.
We have two parties held to different standards. One stalked and criticized even when its goals are to legitimately improve America. A progressive war has been declared with their Democratic media accomplice. Unfairly, their party remains unscathed no matter what they do, wrongdoing ignored by a refusal to bring criminality to justice with talk only of impeachable Trump offenses that don’t exist and assassination alluded to that’s somehow OK as long as it’s not directed at Obama.
None of that is OK but the implications are disturbing.
Congress-red is splintered into factions, some leaning left designated as RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) while others are old school republicans who don’t see eye to eye with Trump and were rejected by the people for their feckless uninspired views. Trump prevailed as the engaging we-are-all-in-this-together candidate which had mass appeal especially among the lower middle class. And there are the Tea Party patriots who uphold their core principles – personal freedom, economic freedom, a debt free future. The reds don’t stick together. They harbor petty differences that impact their decision-making to the detriment of their party. They’re also easily intimidated fearing words like obstructionist and racist, bait and bluster tactics Obama used handily against Republicans.
Trump alone remains undaunted which makes him remarkable. Without Trump there would be no Republican administration. Trump is a leader unlike any other in his party.
Disappointing then to observe Paul Ryan’s pre-election rant in the audio of an Oct. 10, 2016 conference call that revealed how he intended to abandon the Republican presidential nominee on the campaign trail. In it, Ryan boasted, “I am not going to defend Donald Trump—not now, not in the future,” Ryan then disinvited Trump from a rally in Wisconsin’s first congressional district.
Ryan’s contempt was apparent from the start.
Interestingly, Ryan’s condemnation was motivated by the grab em by the pussy audio conveniently dredged up from an old NBC show that was then handed off to the Washington Post to hurt Trump’s candidacy. Ryan apparently had no concerns about Clinton impropriety.
Speaker Ryan never anticipated Trump would go the distance. In fact, Paul Ryan and other Republicans did not want Donald Trump to win because Trump challenged their rigidly held core beliefs on issues related to open borders and expanded Islamic migration that Ryan supports. He’s devious and no friend to Trump.
On October 10th, Trump responded with his tweet, Paul Ryan should spend more time on balancing the budget, jobs and illegal immigration and not waste his time on fighting Republican nominee.
Ryan isn’t a team player. He is pompous and wants things done his way. He’s a potential saboteur if allowed to be.
Trump’s first order of business is the GOP American Health Care Act sometimes referred to as RyanCare which could hurt President Trump’s credibility if he doesn’t recognize Ryan is not acting in Trump’s best interests. RyanCare cuts Medicaid by 880 billion for the poor while cutting taxes for the rich by the same amount, 880 billion. Trump’s supporters would view the passage of this health care bill as a betrayal.
Trump must win the people’s trust with broad support in this the first action he takes. Embracing this bill can only hurt him.
Lou Dobbs understands the threat Ryan poses. Fox Business’ Dobbs said recently that it’s time for Paul Ryan to resign as Speaker of the House. Ryan’s disdain for Trump ever since the campaign has been quite clear and Dobbs believes that Ryan was determined to destroy Donald Trump. He also said, Ryan has achieved next to nothing since he became Speaker and concluded, I believe it’s time for Ryan to vacate the Speaker’s office in the interest of his party and, in fact, the nation.
We see snaky Republican meddling in Trump’s presidency yet must acknowledge Obama executed his policies exactly as he wanted largely unimpeded. He was the quintessential black candidate whose invincibility allowed him to do as he pleased. That occurred despite the content of his character which was hardly virtuous.
Obamacare passed without a single Republican vote and is now in the throes of a death spiral with escalating costs and sullied by Ryan who has commandeered Trump’s health care ‘repeal and replace’ with his own agenda to implement his plan not his party’s plan. How it culminates is anyone’s guess though we know individuals like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and the 40 patriot strong House Freedom Caucus Chaired by Rep Mark Meadows oppose the American Health Care Act and are working hard for affordable quality health care with market driven principles. Ted Cruz and two of his colleagues recently met White House officials at Mar-a-Lago to discuss changes to the American Health Care Act.
Trump needs to ensure he implements his plan, not Ryan’s idea of what healthcare should be.
Trump is a passionate patriot who can transform the Republican party but he cannot bend to enemies within his own party. He must stick with his stated objectives and unique brand that won him the presidency.
Progressives and many in the media have imposed civil war on Trump and the people who elected him – they’re the declared enemies.
But it’s the insidious undeclared enemies Trump must acknowledge turning disadvantage to advantage by recognizing the individuals within the Republican congress he can legitimately trust.
The worst kinds of enemies are those who pretend to be your friends. But Trump knows who he can count on and we can surmise Paul Ryan is probably not among them.
